i’ve just finished a new little assemblage today that is part of a several piece series of doll assemblages.  it’s called “death of the apothecary”.

i’ll probably end up adding some subtle text and numbers to the orange wooden disks at the top, but i’ll have to think about that one for a moment.  the nails on top left little rusty remnants around the holes on the top — love that part.

here is a detail of the charlotte, complete with a little humanesque heart and red thread.

the little bottles inside the assemblage are topped with waxy goodness, and one a skull i fashioned from a bead and apoxy clay (that’s how i adhered everything — thank you kerin for turning me in on to this magnificent stuff!!).

can you tell what is in the bottles?  i LOVE mixing mineral oil with colored water (the first bottle) — it’s kind of like a mini lava lamp when you shake it up.  woohooo!

i love group projects!  my friends kerin (who also has photos posted of hers — darkey’s dream), jo and rachel (look for her traveling circus post to see hers) and i had an idea to do four group projects together.  each of us started a small assemblage and will be sending it to each of the others to add to and work on.  how much fun this is!

mine had a bit of a mishap while i was packing it up to send a few days ago and fell face down on the floor breaking many of its bits.  i’ve just finished repairing it today and will be sending it first to rachel.  it’s soooo difficult for me to leave things undone but i succeeded and left lots of room to do lots of things.  clearly the inside of the tin needs lots of love and attention.  paint?  collage?  things?  who knows how it’ll turn out.  peeks so far:

Ive since added a wee bit more but not too much

If you open the hinged tin, you find a very grungy old-looking book (it will hold all his secret findings and info on his specimens, i think)

there are so many things i’ve been wanting to add but i will see how it comes back to me after the girls work on it and perhaps there will still be room or perhaps not.  i have a huge amount of those old double headed nails, all rusty and pretty (i have no idea what they are called) that i wanted to poke out around the top and make into a hanger of sorts, have a little handle i was going to put on to use to open the hinged tin but yeah, i’m waiting on all of that.  the girls will do such a fabulous job, i already know.  i’m very excited!  can’t wait to work on their projects either.  i’ll post photos when i’m done maybe.  🙂

oh yeah, here is the close-up of the specimen bottle:
